In my 20 years as the Director of A Better World, the opening of the Bridge was one of the most satisfying projects we have completed. The entire community was out to celebrate. The District Commissioner and several community leaders were present. What was most amazing to the people was that they had never ever seen a footbridge like this. The DC said he was expecting a wooden bridge and only when he came and saw it a few weeks ago that he accepted the invitation to come and share his appreciation for the work.

I saw students walking across with the girl’s enrolment already up at the school. Several students from the disabled school also came.

This project would not have been possible without the generous support of the MacPhail Family. Stu has been the Director of Projects for A Better World for several years and has shared his time and resources generously and now has included his family in helping to make A Better World.

The Bridge was opened by Pat Romerman of Group2 Architecture and Engineering Ltd.  and the District Commissioner. Town Councillor and Mayor John Margi and Eric Rajah shared a tribute to the MacPhail Family of Alberta.

"Many lives will be saved, businesses improved, girls will be able to attend the girl’s school, workers will be able to get to work, patients will have access to the hospital are all possible now", said John Margi, Councillor and Town Mayor.
