Merry Christmas. Today was an incredible day for all of here. We opened the Girl’s dorm in memory of Gwen Bader (See web site home page about Gwen). The main source of funding was from the lunch hosted by Gord Bontje at the Westerner and the memorial funds. Let me share a picture report.
The Dorm.
Canadians lined up for opening.
The EAMO children marched down to the opening singing.
Speech from Belinda Bader of Lacombe, Alberta, aunt of Gwen. Eric thanked the donors and Gord Bontje’ s initiative that made this a reality.
The Plaque was unveiled by Desirae a visually impaired student from Lacombe and an EAMO child.
Once inside the dorm girls were so excited as they toured the new facilities. Gord, you and your family, friends and colleagues can be proud of your gift. You will want to see it.
Spontaneous singing and entertainment followed inside the open area that held 200 people.
Then came the fantastic food Spaghetti with vegetables, freshly cut potato fries, Bread and Jam, Candy Canes.
Then came the gifts - 175 from Ralph and May and 175 from ABW group and an additional 50 from sponsors from all over the world
Everyone waiting patiently to open their gifts.
Cars, toys, socks, apples more than his eyes can see and hands can hold.
Taking their gifts to the dorm.
Thank you to everyone who made this day memorable. Especially to Ray and Kelly Loxdale for organizing and leading the trip supporting the project and for coming with their children Zach and Julia.
